I read a lot of different golf blogs 90% of them do a reviews on golf equipment, clubs, balls, clothes, shoes etc. I’ve decided I’m going to do a different kind of review, I am doing the ultimate head to head battle of the stuff that holds your equipment!
That’s right this is a review of underwear. Why you might ask? We’ll we why not? You can usually find one of the three brands at your local Golf Shop. So let’s give it a shot. Each company will be judged based on three categories – Fit, Comfort, Easy of Use. I’ve worn a pair from each company for a minimum 2 days, to get a good sense of how they perform.
Before I start my review, let me explain what I mean by ease of use. I bought a pair of Joe Boxers a couple of years ago and thought they were wonderful! Until I had to go to the bathroom…. there was no fly! To me a pair of underwear no matter how comfy they are should have a fly, there is nothing worse then having to well I’ll stop there I think you get my point.

When I first took these out of the package my first thought was, these look short. After wearing them for a couple of days it turns out first impressions aren’t always right. They do look short but when you put them on the have quite a bit of stretch to them. They stretch but not too much, I would go with the same size you normally wear.
I’m not sure exactly what Modal is but it sure makes for a comfy pair of underwear! Right out of the box these are as comfortable as a broken in pair of shoes. The waist band on these are not as firm as some companies which helps make them feel great and while keeping you comfy all day. The only reason for a less than perfect score is the stitching around the back of the garment feels a little different to me.
Easy of Use: 10/10
They have a fly. Enough said.
Very good overall. The fly is a big plus for these guys, it just makes thing easier. The fit and feel are great, the lines stitching on the back does take some getting used but overall a very solid pair.

Fit: Score 9/10
Right out of the box the fit was great. Comfortable, and stretchy enough to handle thanksgiving dinner. The fit is very similar to the 2under, maybe just a little bit longer. Much like the 2undr they fit true to size, don’t be afraid by the stretch, they are meant to be comfy not tight!
Much like the 2under these are made of Modal, I still don’t know what Modal is but it does make for a silky smooth pair of underwear! One knock on these guys is the waist band is a little thick and stiff. My only complaint about these would be the label on the back of the garment rubs up against my back and side which can cause some itching.
Easy of Use: 8/10
They are extremely comfy, the key hole does a great job doing what it’s supposed to do. The only problem is there is no fly. For that reason they loose a point in my books.
Price is right. They are comfortable to wear, if you don’t mind the tag. The only real knock on these is the lack of a fly. Some guys might like that but not me.
Contender #3 SAXX – The Original – Retail Price -$29.99 + – www.saxxunderwear.com

Fit: Score 9/10
As expected the fit on these were fantastic. Much like the other two they fit great out of the box. These were the most stretchy of all the brands, the only thing I could see being an issue would be for guys with skinny legs, they might be too big.
Comfort: 10/10 Like the other brands, these are made Modal, along with a laundry list of other fabrics. I honestly thought these were made out of silk when I pulled them out of the package. They are that soft! Fit is great, you honestly don’t feel like you are wearing anything!
Easy of Use: 8/10 The reason these didn’t score higher on the ease of use rating is simple. They do offer a fly, but there are a ton of options to choose from with this brand. There is 3 categories and 9 options to choose from! This could make the decision confusing for some, I had to go double check the package just to figure out what model I had. The price on these is also a little higher than the other two brands.
These are with out a doubt the most comfortable underwear I have ever worn. The issue falls with the options and the price, some pairs go as high as $36!
The price, fit, and the fly are what did it for me. I have asked anyone who is thinking of buying me a Christmas or Birthday Present (It’s November 5th FYI) to buy me a pair of these!
Really you can’t go wrong with any one of these products. They all are top notch, they fit great, feel amazing, and I believe are actually healthier for you. Next time you are at your local golf shop stop in. Try and pair, you won’t look back after you do!
Hope you enjoyed my first blog post! I’m sure I will have many more to come in the future. I plan to review lots of products you wouldn’t normally think of.
